  2. Internet Config is a third party application that allows
  3. Internet applications to share preferences. If you would
  4. like more information about Internet Config or would
  5. like to download a copy, visit
  6. ftp://mirrors.aol.com/pub/peterlewis

  8. Internet Config is optional, however, Internet Mail and
  9. News is optimized to take advantage of Internet Config.
  10.  
  11. To setup Internet Mail and News without using Internet
  12. Config, choose Preferences from the Edit menu and enter
  13. your server settings in the Mail Server and News Server
  14. panels.

  17. The following steps will set up Internet Config to:
  18. ΓÇó connect to your mail and news server
  19. ΓÇó connect Internet Mail and News and Internet Explorer
  20. together so that when you click a mailto or a news link in
  21. Internet Explorer, or click the Mail or Newsgroups buttons
  22. on the tool bar, Internet Mail and News will open. You can
  23. also click on an http link in a mail or news message and
  24. Internet Explorer will open and display the page.

  26. To set up Internet Config:
  27.  
  28. 1. Double-click the Internet Config icon to start it. You may
  29. get a message the Internet Config Extension is not installed.
  30. Click Install.  You do not have to restart.  Turn on Balloon
  31. Help for a description of each field.
  32. 2. Click the Email button and enter your e-mail information.
  33. 3. Click the News button and enter your news information.
  34. 4. Click the Helpers button.
  35. 5. Click "mailto-" and then click Change.
  36. 6. Click Choose Helper, select Internet Mail and News, and then
  37. click OK.
  38. 7. Repeat step 6 for "news-"
  39. 8. Repeat step 6 for "http-" BUT choose Internet Explorer as
  40. the Helper. 
  41. 9. On the File menu, choose Save.
  42. 10. On the File menu, choose Quit.

  44. To set up Internet Mail and News:

  46. 1. Double-click the Internet Mail and News icon to start it.
  47. 2. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  48. 3. Click Mail Server and make sure the ΓÇ£Get mail server
  49. information from Internet ConfigΓÇ¥ check box is checked.
  50. 4. Click News Server and do the same.
  51. 5. Click OK.

  53. To set up Internet Explorer:

  55. 1. Double-click the Internet Explorer icon to start it.
  56. 2. On the Edit menu, choose Options.
  57. 3. Make sure the Use Internet Config Settings check box
  58. is checked.
  59. 4. Click OK.
